Does "nonlinear" refer to a LINEAR MODEL of the form:
Y = a1*X1 + a2*X2 + a3*X3 + a4*X4 +... + ap*Xp + E
where
X1 = U - a predictor of all 1s.
X2 = X - any numerical predictor
X3 = X^2 - the "squares" of the elements in X
X4 = X^3 - the "cubes" of the elements in X
