[Edu-sig] Python 2.6.1 build problems

Hi, I am trying to build Python 2.6.1 (upgrade) on Ubuntu 8.10 in preparation for a class next week. When I try to build it from the source files I run into two problems. 1. The first (resolved) was: Failed to find the necessary bits to build these modules: bsddb185

To get a full build of Python 2.6 ( or Python 3, for that matter) you need to install the following packages: libsqlite3-dev libreadline5-dev libncurses5-dev zlib1g-dev libbz2-dev libssl-dev libgdbm-dev tk-dev This will give you a working IDLE... Cheers, Vern Arana Fireheart wrote: Hi, I
