From the bug:
We want this for GIMP, too - but someone has to write the code for it.
Right now, it is not as easy as just save the undo history into the file if
you're not keen on having multi-gigabyte XCF files :)
If you plan to work on this feature,
Can we just store the data structures/objects used for each of the undo
options into a separate file alongwith the base image and then give the
user an option of loading this prior to loading the saved final version
of the image ?This feature itself should be enabled from
Edit-preference I would
