[Ekiga-list] Ekiga 3.2.5 on Lenny

2009-07-09 Thread Benoît Laniel
Hi,

I played a lot with ekiga recently and was very happy to see 3.2.5
coming. So I decided to share the packages (i386 and amd64) I made
for my personal use (in fact, I only compiled for Lenny the great
packages made by the Debian Developers). Only one problem so far:
I had to compile ekiga with g++ from Squeeze, I don't remember the
error exactly.

You can download them from http://blaniel.free.fr/debian/ekiga
Or add 'deb http://blaniel.free.fr/debian/ekiga ./' to your
sources.list.

Bonus is libopal3.6.4-plugins-nonfree (h263, h263p, h264 and ilbc). It
is compiled with libavcodec and libx264 linked statically. I had to do
this because installing debian-multimedia.org's libavcodec breaks some
programs (in my case vlc with mpeg ts containing h264) and the latest
libx264 doesn't work with the GXV3000 (I used the latest version
working, I still need to find what breaked the compatibility).

I hope it will be useful to someone.

Thanks to all the developers who made this great software.
Benoît Laniel

Thanks! Could you upload it to http://backports.org/dokuwiki/doku.php ?
 Thus is becomes official.

Re: [Ekiga-list] ekiga.net server down again

2009-07-09 Thread Jan Willamowius
I'm not sure what kind of process is dying on ekiga.net, but sometimes
it can be very helpful to use an automatic restarter until the real
problem is fixed:

#!/bin/sh

START_PROC=/usr/local/bin/dying_process -a -b -c
NOTIFY_EMAIL=f...@bar.com

while :; do
$START_PROC
EXITSTATUS=$?
if [ $EXITSTATUS -gt 128 ]; then
echo Process has crashed | /usr/bin/mail -s
Crash$NOTIFY_EMAIL
elif [ $EXITSTATUS == 0 ]; then
echo Normally Stoped
exit
fi
echo Restarting Process
sleep 4
done

[Ekiga-list] ekiga not normal in Juanty and Debian Testing

2009-07-09 Thread H.S.
Hello,

I have Ekiga in Debian Testing as well as on Jaunty machines. Debian got
the new version only a few months ago. I have noticed two main things:
1. During a call, Ekiga appears to hog the CPU (40%~70%). I already
reported this here some weeks ago (so let's just keep this in that
thread only and focus on the following point here).
2. After ending a call and trying more calls is problematic. Or perhaps
it is the length of time that Ekiga has been running. But after some
time, the remote user is usually reported to be not available and I
cannot make further calls.

Anyone else having these problems?
I have, on Debian: Ekiga 3.2.1~git20090515.9d0263-1
and on Juanty: Ekiga 3.2.0-0ubuntu2

Thanks and regards,
-HS

 I 2 days the 3.2.5 ekiga should be available in unstable. Please test
 with this one and tell if the CPU is high. If yes, we will fix it for
 3.2.6.

 2. After ending a call and trying more calls is problematic. Or perhaps

 This also is interesting. The -d 4 output is precious, please give it
 to us.

Unfortunately, the remote user was not at the computer for this
experiment. However, when I tried to call him anyway, I got a message in
-d 4 output that the remote user was temporarily unavailable.

I will try this again tomorrow when I get a chance (and I will save the
-d 4 output to a file, which I forgot to do this time).

regards.

[Ekiga-list] Ekiga contact presence

2009-07-09 Thread Mateusz Kaduk
Hi,

I am on Debian (sid) still using 3.2.1~git20090515. I would like to
know if this issue was fixed in upcomming 3.2.5.
The problem is with contact availability status it gets rarely updated if ever.

How does ekiga server determinate if user is still online? Are there
any ping-pong requests send ?
My girlfriend turns off ekiga, but I still see her online, when I come
back I try calling, after restarting ekiga this status is updated.

How long it takes to update user status in a normal working case ? Is
it a bug or just design ?

Thanks in advance,
