Although I had adjusted it to 3.80v, when I checked the AGC voltage, I
found it had crept up above 3.9v.
Since the adjustment happens early on in construction, it's likely that
the pot got bumped later.
This sequence of calibration could be a cause of reported low audio
level in 3000+ K2's.

The K2 specification in the manual states that the band is 28.0 to
28.8MHz, Michael. Because of the design of the band pass filters,
transmitting outside that range will result in a lower power output.
I would say that your K2 is operating within spec.

Ten Tec's 1202 Power and SWR meter kit is a best buy as it can be calibrated
