[Elecraft] K1 Problem

2004-11-02 Thread Glenn Haffly
K1 has a problem at J8 pin 7. Specs should be 1.6K to 1.9K. So far have found that J8 pin 7 to ground is zero. Tried reversing test leads and the same. P3 is jumpered pins 1 and 2. D15 anode to ground 195 ohms. D15 cathode to ground 98.6 K. R36 in circuit 1.96 K . R37 in circuit 1.96 K. R34 in

[Elecraft] HFPack amp kit

2004-11-02 Thread Steve Jackson
Somebody asked about the HFPack amplifier kit. I built one and put it into a K1 blank case. A tight fit, but, it sure looked nice. I even used a PowerPole connector on the back. Ended up selling it, and got the KPA100. ;-) I pulled this ad off the eHam.net forum ... don't know the guy, but,

[Elecraft] PLL Reference Oscillator problem

2004-11-02 Thread Tom Hall
I recently had the following problem with the PLL Reference Oscillator: When the circuit was oscillating I could see it on a scope at the source of Q19 and at the junction of RFC14 and R20. When it is oscillating (after pushing Band-) the voltage is about 1.3 volts (at RFC14 and R20) and

If you are checking the gain of the whole K2 RF and IF strip less the modification of the IF gain by the effects of AGC, yes, it is possible to use a lower output from the signal generator. However if you need to go into troubleshooting in greater depth, the 270mV / 756mV pk-pk found at

[Elecraft] Bad CW

2004-11-02 Thread Nanko
CW signal from my K2 sounds terrible ,key clicks and carrier is modulated with a multiplexing signal? Sounds like a purring cat. I tested SSB with the carrier suppressing pot fully CCW, now a clean tone. I excanged the control board (tnx PA2DW) no difference :-( Thanks in advance for any help.
