Hi Everybody,
I am updating K2 S/N 01762 from A to B prior to installing options. My
questions regard the AF gain control. The AF gain control has no effect
whatever on the level of signal in my headphones. No, I am listening to
signals on the ham bands, not just the CW sidetone which I und

It is not affected by the AF Gain control, but there is a menu entry to
adjust it.

It's a kit, it's serial number 22, I ordered it Friday at Visalia

that it was coming)), and I'll start assembly tomorrow AM (I may
finish it tomorrow, too). I spent today at Pacificon (a mistake), and

Selling my recently built XV50 transverter. It works fine, I have 3
QSO's with it, but I find myself obsessed with a new project I want to
build. It comes with the crystal oven installed but no DB9 connectors
or wire to build a control cable if you want to use it with a K2.

I share with Steve's observation. KDSP2 is good in CW mode but not so good
in SSB when compared with IC756pro3. I eventually sold the KDSP2.
Artifacts in SSB is the thing I don't like for KDSP2.

I do not argue that my settings my settings could likely use some
tweaking. My epiphany was concerning how the DSP cycled through the
different settings. The other thing that helped me was cranking the
gain up. With the gain set to higher settings, the higher beta is
more tolerable. I actua

The procedure which relies on tuning to a broadcast signal of known
frequency and uses the internal counter (along with some swapping of the
counter probe between TP1 and TP2) eliminates any slight error in the
'exactness' of the 4 MHz reference - it is automatically equalized out

Denis,
That little 'chirrup' should go away after you run CAL PLL. Make
certain you have the bottom cover in place when you do run it.
L34 tuning is quite broad and should be adjusted for the best signal to
noise ratio. Rather than using a signal generator, the best method is

David,
Wow, the default Beta and Decay settings leave me with a lot of distortion.
I can tolerate more distortion on SSB than on CW. The denoiser makes CW
sound scratchy, but till copyable. I left the Beta setting close to the
default, but really reduced the Decay setting. I put it down to 30, tho

Hi!
This afternoon I got my new K2 to "Alignment and test, Part II"
All seems to be fine with one small exception - and maybe it's just just the
way it is but I thought I would ask anyway.
I applied a signal at -110dBm on 7.020Mhz to make the various tuning
adjustments. Apat from not being
Hello,
Fall is upon us and it is the start of a new Polar Bear Season.
There will be a group of polar bears out on 27 Oct 2007.

I set everything back to the default settings. Then the only ones I
ended up change was the SSB & CW gain settings. After that, when I
want to use the DSP, I would step through the different "freq widths"
that are supplied by S1(NR1, NR2, NR3, NR4), then S2(NR1, NR2, NR3,
NR4), and so on. Th
Whilst trying to optimise the VCO calibration on my K2, I've come to the
conclusion that effective frequency counter gate time is slightly short
(more than would be accounted for by simply rounding down). The
consequence is that one actually wants the 4MHz oscillator slightly low

at the spectrum of my K1 and K2 transceivers...
