Thank you all very much for the answers - I think I understand what I
want from K2 much better now. I hope I'll have as much fun building it
as I had with K1.

I have a brand new, never been opened, E-MU 1212M Internal Digital Audio
System available. $100 delivered in the USA (will ship elsewhere, but will
need to look into costs first). Check or MO prefered...

Jacques, it's in the notes for firmware 3.84 :-
"* SQUELCH-CONTROLLED 1750-HZ PL TONE: Some EU
repeaters require a 1750-Hz PL tone burst to open. Previously, an
0.5-second burst was generated at the start of each transmission.
Now, this tone is only generated if squelch is not already open.
I have one for sale. I was going to go the softrock way, but now will wait
for the P3.
Used it only a couple of times. $80 OBO shipped US. Everywhere else actual
cost.

this is all I have done with my K3
I also found pins 29 and 30 (dot/dash) on U6 on the Control Board to have
higher than spec resistance, 96.7k and 96.5k respectively. They should be
70-90k.
Weird.

Hello
Perhaps I'll look stupid (once more !), but I can't find how to switch a 2 m

I have the minus 600 khz OK, the 1750 hz tone ( which is the standard in

Yes. You will also see a significant change when selecting AM
or the "other" sideband. This is normal with most radios unless
they use separate filters for USB and LSB.

After viewing the P3 at Dayton, and pondering adding one, one item came to
mind which would make it more appealing to me. This would be a means to
switch the P3 between two K3s from the P3 itself, and/or via computer.
Yes, I know something could be jury rigged up to make that happen, but

Thats good. Whats even better is to use twisted pair for the entire
length of any current loop carrying pulsed current.

If you are interested in adding LEDs to the K2 you may want to look at my
description on how to add up to 5 LEDs without drilling any holes in the K2,
see http://www.qslnet.de/member/la3za/K2_LEDS.html K2 LEDS . They are:
1. Split/RIT/XIT
2. Zero-beat detector
3. Analog audio filter
4. TX on
5.
The SSB module won't buy you anything for CW, unless you plan to use J2A
where modulation is required (i.e. the method for CW used in cocoaModem,
etc.). The RX and filters in the base CW rig are already ideal for normal CW
and it has a built-in keyer as well.
I elected not to put the SSB module
Alexey,
That is a very old mod (2003) and was one of the experimental things
done at that time.
Since then, the T7 winding ratio has been changed and the specs on the
IF filter crystals have been modified.
Currently I do not believe there is any benefit in applying that mod to
a K2. If you hav
You can find the SPLIT/RIT/XIT LED mod on Tom Hammond's website.
Apparently the link on the Elecraft website has disappeared.
Go to http://www.n0ss.net/index_k2.htm.

Hi there,
I have a small question. The K2 manual refers couple times to the
"Adding a SPLIT/RIT/XIT LED to the K2" application note, but I cannot
find it anywhere. Could anybody point me to where it is located? Sorry
for the silly question and thank you .
