Hi John,
I second that!
Don't we all know how it feels to miss that one line in a manual and
then being directed the right way?
Cheers,

Pardon me if this is a dumb question, I'm still in the process of building
my K2. Is there any CW performance penalty in a K2 with the SSB option
installed? The SSB board has its own filters, correct? Do the existing CW
filters remain unchanged?
thanx,

Just received a brand new factory assembled KPA500 which will not power on.
Have connected with Kenwood TS-990S and KAT500 tuner. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

I would like to purchase a sound, working KPA3, please. It could even be a
complete K3/10 to K3/100 conversion kit.
Easy to purchase from EU or USA.

Check the fuse.
The folks at the factory don't know whether you will use 115V or 230V to power
the amplifier, so the safe thing is to not install a fuse. Look for an envelope
with the fuses you need in the packaging.

There is no CW performance penalty when the SSB option board is
installed. The filter can be setup for CW independent of the SSB board
filter when receiving. The K2 can be configured to use the K2 basic
filter in a wide/ssb mode when receiving, but this is a less than an

I used JT - 65 successfully on my lap top running XP. However, I am

David: Did you follow the installation instructions in the Owner's manual
for installing the fuses and then setting the power supply transformer tap
for your mains voltage?

There's no compromise of CW performance. In fact, it gives you the option of a flatter
bandpass if you want a wide CW filter (more than about 1 kHz).

John,
I am sorry that I forgot about the RX SHIFT which turns off Dual RX. I
am glad that you found the problem source.
Yes, reading the manual is important, but there are subtle things like
RX SHIFT disables Dual RX that are not apparent at first sight.

I have done some searching but to no avail, is there a schematic for making my

Thank you all for your comments. I did not realize that I had to install
the fuses in the KPA500 that came assembled given that the 115 V fuse
holder was installed at the factory.
Thank you all again.

I did try to get WSJT-X with a KX3 last weekend
RX worked ok, but on TX I was only able to put 1W out. Keying was fine via com 8
I was using a USB plantronic sound card to interface with my laptop. It seems
that the audio output of the sound card Into the KX3 Mic was not high enough.
