Whether the WinKeyer is necessary depends on the logging program for sending
CW. N3FJP's ACLog CANNOT use the same virtual serial port to control the
rig and send CW like N1MM+ can. ACLog MUST have a separate (like the
WinKeyer) port for CW. OTOH, DXLab Suite (and others) is able to accomplish
It's listed on the "main" firmware/software page, one link down from the
Elecraft home page. Maybe I've been to the Elecraft web site too many
times? I would rather see time devoted to shipping my (soon to become
favorite radio) K4. Please don't start a K4 shipping war of words everyone!

Dummy Load, right? Sorry if redundant.
Good Luck!

Frank,
Yes, I get 13.9 on the radio readout no key, and 13.8 full power
FSK (only 60-70 watts now). 10gauge wire only 1.5ft long.

I've had the same issue with power supply leads - a little polishing raised
the output under load by almost 0.8VDC. A little dab of NO-OX ID A on the
studs and rings should keep 'em clean going forward.

I had a similar problem with our K3/Astron PS atP40L-P49Y. Removing the power
cable from the back of the Astron and sanding the wires ends lightly (though no
corrosion could be seen) solved the problem.

Yes, also a good idea. My Astron PS output voltage had been running a bit
low and needed to be adjusted. As an added item I bought some low ESR
electrolytics and put one across the output terminals inside that supply in
case the old original ones were suffering to do their switcher duties.

Gordon,
Have you verified that your power supply and DC power cable
are delivering full voltage to your K3 when the K3 is set to deliver
110 watts output? This is a frequent cause of low power output.
Use the K3 internal voltmeter

Chet,
Thanks! Please send me the notes, I will look at the problem
closer. I don't know if the problem is the low power amp or the 100
watt amp yet.
I should be able to fix it, I built a K2 from scratch and have repaired
other radios.

Hi Gordon,
I had some power problems with my K3 a few months ago, and could not get any
useful help by e-mailing support, but with the kindness of others on the
Elecraft owners lists I was able to troubleshoot and repair it on my own. One
of the power MOSFETs in the low power amp section had
My OLD Rev A 2002 K2/100 manual shows it on page 56. It'll switch 1A,
+200VDC via an IRF830 (or IRL620) MOSFET to ground. It's on the left middle
of the second page of the schematic.
