Your email has inspired me! I will try to get out this weekend and see if I
can make any contacts. I do have an old CB antenna and will try to make it
work. I use my KX1 mostly when I travel. Guess I need to change my thinking.
Thanks for the push

I picked up several of the Bananna Plug/BNC adapters from Radio Shack. Also
found some at a local Electronics surplus store for about half the price.

Sent: Monday,
I also have found that the Maldol whip is capable of making contacts. What I
have done to solve the problem of possibly breaking the BNC from the board
is to use a auto window mount I bought at HRO. I attach this either by a
vice grip or clamp to the deck or table and run the coax to the KX1.
This is a page that I think everyone who is even contemplating building
one of these radios, should read first. They will have no doubt that it
is a great rig to build and use. I have the K2, K1 and the KX1. I only
built the KX1, but found it a wonderful experience. I take the KX1 with
me whenever
Decided to try a new antenna I bought a few weeks ago while my son was
taking a nap. Pulled out my DK9SQ vertical mast and attached it to the
railing of my back deck. I then attached a Par Electronics 20 meter End Fed
antenna and hoisted it up to 30'. My analyzer says that it is 1:1 to 1:6 on

Gotta Love the way Wayne thinks. These templets work great. I did need to
enlarge them some to fit on to my KX1. For some reason the template as sent
was about 90% the size that fit the rig. Now I am ready to hit the field and
travel. There is even enough room to write notes on the back if you do
