I always had a school eraser with one end split. I would put the lead of
the component
in the split and as I pulled it out I would twist it also. This cleaned up
stuff on the
lead prior to soldering back into the circuit.

Pardon me for sounding silly, you said sideband mode correct?
When you held down the mic button did you whistle or speak? As I
recall SSB mode needs a signal to modulate in order to transmit?

I had turned that keyer around and put hand on top of box and that worked
for me. However I was just messing around and have not continued that way.
I use bug most of the time and wired up a set of paddles to work like a
double speed [cootie] key. That is also a lot of fun.

At what price for additional port and software. Just because it can
be done do we really need it? To me QRP was minimal radio, power
and the sheer fun of communicating. It is a hobby I enjoy because it
gets away from computers...

If anyone has seen the show, I thought I had picked up they had
HF in them?? Wonder if there are non-amaetur radios that they
would use that would give them the range to reach out further than
CBs or commerical VHF radios would.
I asked my net manager about the QSP so I wouldn't blow it...

My 2 cents worth is: Theory is one thing and actuality is another thing.
I use a 130 ft.
At least Elecraft's does a duel purpose, there are hardware/ software
vendors who reverse the wiring
in them just because they can and their special cable costs a bunch...

So just out of curiousity how does the K series work

I have an SGC tuner and really love how it operates, but in keeping with
where I believe these guys are going ...

Check out the following nets http://www.aa8vs.org/nren both CW and Winlink

Why hate anyone, that is why a communicator needs to be versed in all the
tools. That would be SSB, digital, CW, etc... You are forced, since
emergancies are not scheduled to take what ever mode works the best at the
specific time and get the information applied in a standard format
Speaking of that you'll love this one on QMN/ NREN list

Wake up FCC!! How important is amateur radio? Why should our
frequencies be protected? The following was posted on the WLOX ABC affliate

I preferred the 706 because size of numbers on display and ease of accessing
the knobs. Not to mention at the time I bought the remote head was free.
The 857 has some small buttons on the knob and when your driving and in
traffic some of these could be hit incorrectly. Visualize mounted in
CB Channel 19 is 27.185 MHz and if the KTAT1 tuner has sufficient matching
capability you could probably easily hit 12 or 10 meters. it might even
give 15 a shot.
The SGC tuner works quite well on 102 whip and the range is 80 up to 6
meters but it has an extremely wide matching range. I am

As I recall most power tools are made for right-hand folks which makes them
awkward for south-paws at best. While in the service and qualifying with a
rifle on odd years I did lefthand and even years I did righthand and I have
to tell you the M14 is darned awkward for a lefty.
