Let us not be too hasty to judge this beast. According to the Elecraft price
sheet, a comparable K3 setup will cost almost $6800 and that does not give you
a power supply or 200W, which is included with the Kenwood.

With all this interesting talk about the KX3, about the only thing that I can
think that this radio needs is a ruggedized housing. It may be a nice portable
radio or suited for EMCOMM but I hate to have one sitting on a table when it

This presentation is interesting and informative.
Although the K3 is undoubtedly an excellent radio, why must we hide behind the
price of it by showing the cost of other radios it is being compared to?

The electrical specs of this radio may not be as "good" as the K3 or other
radios for that matter but, you can't ignore the construction of this radio.
It looks like it is using mil-spec construction techniques, which isn't cheap
to implement.

A quick comment for those that may think the P3 may slide around. If it is
going to use the 2-dimensional fasteners, there is an easy way to add weight
and structural rigidity at the same time.
I replaced all the 2-D fasteners (where possible) with 1/2" copper bar stock on
a K2. I drilled a
Forgive my biting sarcasm...You are one of the most
vocal supporters for Elecraft products and you knew
the cost of getting into the game. You've made
negative comments regarding other manufacturer's
radios and now you are CONTEMPLATING excuting your
contract? PLEASE!

Hi,
I was looking at the Clifton Laboratories (Jack
Smith)website and comparing his panoramic adapter to
TelepostInc (Larry Phipps) LP-PAN.
It seems to me that the Clifton Laboratories adapter
is a sophisticated spectrum analyzer with a lot of
well developed software and requisite electronics.
Congratulations on the introduction of the K3! I am a
fan of Elecraft but I won't be buying a K3. Our K2
still has some recognized defects that haven't been
addressed in over 6000 units and almost 10 years of
production. Although the K3 seems to take into
account a lot of the comments we've made
Hi Phil,
A bare-bones K2 is a fine radio, although there are
still a couple of unresolved issues, like the tuning
clunks you hear on crowded bands, due to the
synthesizer. I'm still puzzled why it hasn't been
addressed. If you can ignore that, then it performs
very well even without the convenie
Hi,
I was tuning around on 40M this evening and noticed
some clicks when I tuned from 7119.82 to 7120.00. I
started checking and I noticed this behavior from
about 7050 through 7320...every 10 KHz. If I
disconnect my antenna this problem goes away. The
problem remains if I use the attenuator or
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any experience in
modifying/repairing the Atlas 350XL transceiver.
I am particularly interested in alignment and
modifying the AGC.
Thanks
Dave.
