This has been an intermittent problem. When the rig sits for a week or so,
Upon powering ON, the RX is muted, the menu setting shows PA _ _ _, and it
will not transmit but shows a HI REFL message. I have it connected to both a
dummy load and a known good HF antenna. In the MENU, I can not adjust
With HRD, I have set the k3's PTT KEY to RTS-DTR. With N1MM, I set the K3 to
RTS-DTR as well, and in the program, I set DTR to CW, and RTS to PTT. Hope
this helps. Gene N4FZ

Thanks for the help and the good ideas. I will find a stereo plug first, and
go from there. YES, the K2 is a great little rig! 73

I have tried unsuccessfully to get the K2 to work with my straight key. I
have the small 1/8 two tipped plug inserted and the Inp menu set to any of
the selections, and it does NOT detect the key. In fact, it will
continuously key the K2 whenever the key is pushed down with the Inp in the

That would be a mono plug Matt. I am thinking of using a stereo plug perhaps?

Thanks Matt, very much, I had that sinking feeling. Auto detect doesn't work
then I guess. I bought this K2 second hand, nice little rig. Had it over two
years now. Normally use the BY-1 paddles. 73 Gene

Thanks once again Don, I will solder up a stereo plug as you say, then try. I
don't see the ADET selection come up in the Inp, just PDLn and PDLr and HAND
on this K2. SN 5812

The display just went blank, after a previous power on a few days ago, that
read DISPLAY FAULT or something close to that. It has been working fine
until now, what could be causing this? I have the AUXBUS connected to the
K3, and just re-downloaded the latest software for both the K3 and the
No suggestions?

I just bought a used K2 that needs to be wired for the Elecraft MH2 mic.
Question: Do ALL the jumpers have to be soldered directly across, as per
instructions with the mic? The P1 strip looks different, (has exposed long
pins, that have pins 1, 2, 7, 8 jumpered and soldered), than the 2008
Also, pin 6 is jumpered, +5v.

Would the TX DELAY setting at 016mS cause a FAULT condition(s) to occur? I
have had mine set at 16 and I just noticed this, and had many FAULT occur. I
have reset it to 008mS, and am checking it now for any further FAULTs as I
had before. Any thoughts?
