)Iswithed off the set entirely to
prevent a burn out of the PA-transistors.
Furtheer investigation showed that these were unharmed, but apparently the
relays of the automatic tuner do not work anymore.
What went wrong here, and how to remedy?

Hello Elecraft,
After a couple of years of flawless operation my K2-100 ( separate units) is
starting to act up.:
A) At first I noticed that when pushing the “tune” key, that ATU of the 100
watts unit caused the relays to clatter in the normal way
but after finding the 1:1 setting, the tuning
My K2/100 ( double enclosure ) is equipped w/ KUSB cable.

A few words from a K2 enthusiast:
Jimmi, WA4ILO and Wayne plus Eric of Elecraft hit the nail on the head.
The K2 is some thing special.
I am sure that somewhere out there, a scriptwriter is waiting to grasp the
story, so heartbreaking laid out by Jimmy.
Being just a few days off the OSCARS,
Using Ham Radio Deluxe ( free version ) with my K2 I have noticed:
1) at intervals the HRD locks down saying:
No connection to your radio as it has entered a memory mode.
Sitting 200 miles away this is the sad end to remote operation.
The only way out, is to pull the big switch using my
Reading Elecraft Digest, vol 148 issue 10 was a delight
Extremely pleasant to follow the G5RV topics and all the assembly
advices. You sit back with a faint smile and a pleasant feeling of being part

wonderful comradeship of Elecraft owners.
Thanks fellas

Starting a remote fling I’m using my K2 coupled via an Akoya laptop PC to: Ham
Radio Deluxe, Teamviewer and Skype.
I’m puzzled by the squelch setting on Ham Radio Deluxe which for unknown
reasons tend to slide up to the 80 digit whenever closing down the system.
This extremely annoying when I
Dear Elecraft
My K2 (# 7359) has been operating flawlessly SSB on all bands since dec 2013.
Suddenly for unknown reasons reception on 5343 kHz Upper Sideband seems to act
very strange.
On 60 meters and on this band only signals are coming in very loudly but seem
to be intermixed and

The building of my K2 (# 7359 ) was concluded on December 14. 2012, after
months of sheer joy.
Once again doing something worth-while with a soldering iron in your hands.!!
The result: Amazing,… and yet I fell for the KDSP2 noise reduction on SSB
signals as demonstrated on the home
After reinstalling the internal battery in my K2, a new and hitherto never
heard
intermittant noise is now heard in display mode.
It appears as one every second.
Could that be noise from the charging circuit
entering the recently installed KDSP2 unit.
Any clues to this ??

I do a bit of rag chewing on my K2 with my KAP100/KAT 100 in EC2 enclosure.
With only two participants rag chewing the grilles of the KPA100 on the top of

K2 - sudden death
My K2 # 7359 running firmware 2.04 , with internal battery and KAT2 has been
behaving wonderfully for more than a year now.
This morning I switched it on, and heard familiar chatter from other hams -
And after the normal tuning procedure (on approximately 2-3 watt output) I
The term “can easily handle from 200mW to 100 watts” suggests that even more
than 100 watts is permissible.
Does that indicate that even 200 watts from a Palomar TX5300A could be handled
by the KAT100 ?

Some of the instructions in the K2 manual are not precise to the point.
It could easily be adjusted.
