Wayne and everybody else,
What I like best about my K3s (plural not S version K3) is that I have
been able to perform in-cabinet upgrades, e.g. synth, usb, xverter board
with VHF preamp...
I certainly hope we get a few more of those. Perhaps the DSP and maybe RF
power stages? How about
I've transported my SOTA Beams 10M travel mast in checked baggage
internationally. It's only 27 inches and fits in a big suitcase. Never a
question., but I do pack it where it can be found immediately. I expect
you could take it as carry-on, too, but why?

Howdy,
I have a problem with the way my P3 is working. I'm inclined to call this
a bug, not a feature.
If I set the P3 for fixed mode, 100 khz span, center at 18.118, great, I
can see the whole of the 17 meter band. If I change bands with the K3 band
rocker button, go to 20 and then back to
Howdy,
I'm using DxLab to log everything, including the grid square, and then
submitting to Logbook of The World for confirmation. "Worked" does not
mean much to me; what I am interested in is "confirmed."
I built this little toy to map my confirmed squares:
"I know that Elecraft does not want people bashing other companies products and
I in no way want to bash them. "
So why did you write this on the list? Your email is nothing other than a
bashing of that vendor.
If you want to review a product, there are sites for that, e.g. eham.net,
etc.

Hello Chip,
I did a lot of testing of KX3 power supplies, and the PAE is the quietest,
next to a linear power supply.
I had a fair amount of EMI problems, too, until I put a big ferrite bead
(Fair-Rite 0431176451) on the DC output wire. I wound 6 turns though the
core, right at the power plug
Can we have the radio shout UP! UP! UP! and then an exasperated idiot?
Thanks,
Jeff

Subject: [Elecraft] Fwd: Split operation - display of Transmit frequency
The S/N ratio of this list has descended below 1.0 -- way below.
Eric: Could we please have an elecraft-announce list, that provides only
announcements from Elecraft (products firmware other *useful* news) and
allows no other posters? That would be extremely useful. I don't have
time to dig
Unless your antenna is exactly the same impedance as your feedline at the
desired frequency (pretty unlikely) then the feedline is going to
transform the antenna impedance based on distance from the antenna. The
exception to this is feedline lengths that are perfect multiples of a half
wave,

I can put up with the ergonomics of the K3 -- I knew about the ergonomic
issues when I bought it. There is a limit to the amount of user interface
you can put on the front panel of a compact radio.
What does bug me is what another commenter wrote about: the K3 remains
unfinished.

This appears to work very well. The KAT500 following the VFO on the K3 is a
tremendous improvement. I like it.
Would it be possible to make the ATU TUNE button work with the
KPA500/KAT500 as well? That, and maybe making the ANT button select
outputs on the KAT500 would pretty much make the
Please be careful if you are replying to a digest of the remailer. A few
times recently I've seen an entire digest quoted in a digest. The last
digest I got had a signal to noise ratio that was pretty awful. If you
must reply to the digest, please trim the message!

This looks like it could be what you want:

I've not tried one, it was just something I found on the web and saved the

I reported this problem to support back in February, and though my question
was responded to, it was never really answered -- I've been living with the
problem since.., I'm sure support can look at the case, it was around
February 7 of this year.
Before I switched to KPA500/KAT500, I was running
I, too, have seen this spurious KAT500 retune problem.
I'm running a similar setup:
K3-KPA500-LP-100A-KAT500-coax-balun-ladder line-hf doublet
I'lll be happily working 75M and all of a sudden the KAT500 starts
re-tuning, and with the LP-100 alarm going off and the relays chattering in

Dick Dievendorff helped me resolve my slow-to-reset cannot-upgrade-kx3
problem, supplying two test releases of the KX3 utility during the weekend.
He got me up and going.
That is above and beyond the support that can be expected of any person at
any company.
Three cheers for Dick!

I'm wondering about the latest KXBC3 shipping status. The shipping status
page on the web site has had pretty much the same information for the KXBC3
for a while -- is there any news?
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi,
I do not have a sub-receiver in my K3.
Is there any way to send the main receiver audio to the left and right
outputs on the line out jack?
Some times I patch my computer soundcards together to send the K3 audio
into an amplifier and stereo speakers, but I only get one channel, the left

Hello,
I was among the lucky ones who got to discuss all things Elecraft with Eric
at the Elecraft round table in Roswell, GA on Saturday.
One of the things I brought up was how nice the voice squelch on my Icom
rig worked, particularly when listening to 50.125 for band openings. This
