. Radios evolve all the time. It is disappointing to know a better K3

That's just wrong. IMHO.

Caution:
A caution about evaluation of the effects of the change - please listen to
the noise level that appears during breaks while listening to a signal. If
you listen to only the noise level with no signals present, you will find
that the noise level decreases as you lower the threshold settin
Then again if you want your K3 to be one of the top .1% these mods will help.

Another point. Elecraft designed the KAT500 so that can be used with
almost any rig and almost any good power amp. Part of that design is
determining the operating frequency by sensing RF and counting the
During a contest and for many ops with headphones on you wouldn't hear the
relays. Make it an option.
As for the timing if the KAT500 tunes as the receiver is tuned timing is
zero.

The K3 can be polled for this data. Many loggers are doing it. There is

I have asked the same question about the KAT500 following the K3 as tuned to
be ready for any keying of the K3. I was told the relays in the KAT500
would click as I was tuning. SO? As an option I think that would be fine
to know the KAT500 was tuned at all time.

I'm not sure that's true. The outward force of the bowed arms would be
greater the weight of the wires. I think they are built that way to get all
the height. And it looks better. IMHO.

And you think the KXPA100 is going to sell for much less. Internal unit KPA3
is $500. Look at the pix of the KXPA100 and I can see $200-300 to enclose
it in that case.
