When the day comes I need to work with SMD in a kit, that will be the day I no 
longer build a kit.  For me, life is too short for that crazyness.  I would no 
longer enjoy building a kit if I had to mount  SMD.  Why?  Because I feel that 
way and it's my money to spend as I see fit.  I do enjoy rebuilding old tube 
radios and transmitters and new tube glowbug QRP transmitters besides solid 
state QRP rigs.  Unmounted SMD would shift my interest totally to these other 
interests.  If a kit manufacturer would mount a few of the SMD parts on circuit 
boards, that would be OK with me.
