[Elecraft] KX-1 Q1 Bad - Now no received signal / RF Gain

I had my KX-1 receiver working beautifully through the first 2 stages (up through getting the receiver to work), then I added the last components - for the transmitter. I turned it on to complete Test III, and there was no received signal. Everything but the RF Gain control works. The audio gain

[Elecraft] KX-1 Q8 - can I use 2N3904 instead of 2N4124?

I put Q8 in wrong, caught it right away and removed it. I don't want to take a chance that I over - heated it, so I found that a 2N3904 should be a direct replacement for it - which I have on hand. Can I replace the 2N4124 with a 2N3904? 73, Rich KY6R
