During my hamming of over 50 years, the FCC has never felt it necessary to
threaten hams not to break the law, that is not until we have this new
administration coming into control. My concern is what they will define in
the future as criminal acts.

Sounds like the KPA1500 is seeing more SWR than it likes. My K3 is able to
match antennas faster and better than my KAT500.
I have had a number of antennas very similar to yours and spent many hours
experimenting with feedline length. The length of the open like has a
direct effect on the antenna

I highly recommend you run a power lead to the battery (ideally) or the
main power bus in the car interior rather than tap off the limited
accessory socket. Keep well under the fuse rating that feeds the

We held the first 40 meter net Sunday on 7.282 at 1845Z. I hope others

Regarding reduced power into a KPA-500: With your amp in OPER, (but not
transmitting) set your power output on your K3 to a reduced power such as
20 Watts. When the amp is then set to STBY it will revert to full output
of 100 Watts (or whatever you have set it to in that position.)
The KPA500 is a great amp. With 15 Watts in (as an example of a KX3), I am
measuring 375 Watts out.

Two of us shared a K3 on CW. There were four other HF stations on digital
modes with very little antenna separation. We were never even aware that
the other stations existed in the same building. QRM was not a problem
unless multiple stations moved within a few Hertz of our receive
frequency.
