I recently connected my KX3 with a Signaling USB interface and using FLDIGI on
my Macbook Pro.
I was NOT receiving any signals on the waterfall display when I was in the DATA
mode recommended in the KX3 Owners Manual. However, I was able to receive
signals if I switched to USB.
I was able
I built the BL-1, 4:1 balun in 2005 and just pulled it out to look at it.
I have somehow misplaced the original construction sheet I received with the
balun. Comparing the construction sheet that is currently on the website to
how my balun is hooked up, it appears that I didn't hook it up on

Steve,
Yes, when everything is working properly, you will have 5 volts on pad F
when on 80 meters
Things have been going down hill this last weekend.
Started with a bit higher current than manual stated on 80 meters (65 ma) to
read about 105 ma.
Then I noted that I could not get any power out either.
Rig was working fine with just the 20 and 40 meter module with currents and
power out.
Just completed the 3080 module...more challenging than the KX1 itself. I am
experiencing higher current on 80 meters than the manual suggests (65 ma).. I'm
seeing 106 ma. This is with the board on the bench, not in the case.
I've noted at other places in my Elecraft building experience that
All:
I am in the process of doing receiver alignment on the KX1 after installing the
3080 module. I am unable to detect any peak on 40 meters during alignment,
similar to what I heard during the basic KX1 receiver alignment, prior to
installing the 3080 module. Does this indicate a problem
I discovered I do not have any tuning on the 10 meter band. I can change
frequency on all other bands, except this band.
The LOCK is not on.
Any ideas from the Elecraft group?
Thanks, Steve

Right on! I don't know when or how I got there, but that was the fix.
Thanks very much, Steve.

I was checking the bands this evening and noticed that the tunng knob had no
effect on 10 meters. All other bands change frequency just fine when the knob
is turned, but on 10 meters the frequency display stays right at 28000, with no
change when the knob is turned.
Any ideas of what may
The voltages I'm seeing on both the cathode and anode of D2 are higher than
called for in the manual. I am seeing approximately 0.225 volts a.c. on one
end and about 0.110 volts a.c on the other end of the diode. Pins #1 of U1 and
pin #6 of U3 show about 3mv.
I rechecked to assure the three
Don, I connected a battery and now the readings are unstable... not
consistentrechecked the solder connections.
So, the high a.c. reading is now fluctuating, although I believe it may have
been on the regular power supply.

Thanks to Jerry, WA2DKG, I got past the Deaf K2 by plugging the speaker into
the P5 on the RF board vs. the Control Board. I'm not sure how or where I
missed that it should be plugged in there, but it works, so things weren't
shorted after all on the KSB2 board.
Now I'm at the Fine Carrier

I have read the 25 reasons commonly found for K2 poor reception, and many other

My K2 receives, transmits, and I get good reports. All of the resistance and
voltage checks were right on the mark. The alignment was done by the manual,
but as I recall there were some times that I did
I was recently at the transmitter alignment stage, and apparently did not fully
understand the procedure. I did not exit the TUNE mode, but kept tweeking
the pots for max power. I melted the grommet, but was getting 6+ watts out up
until that time.
Elecraft graciously sent me a new Q7, which
