I have recently been corresponding with LB, and have received messages from
him as recently as April 16. There was no hint regarding any health
concerns. Does anyone know what took him so suddenly?

Just because I am not an engineering type steeped in mathematics, I still
want to understand the function of the parameter.
Many hams are not engineering types, but are still good operators and
builders.. I for one have Liberal Arts background, but I do
My K1 with atu was just recently completed. Like you, I have plans for
portable ops.
So far, I have only ventured out into the back yard with various wires flung
over the trees, hung from the second floor balcony, etc.
The antenna showing the best promise is the classic end-fed half wave Zepp.
Geez!
Please excuse the major typo.
The twinlead is indeed a 1/4 wave - not 1/2 wave!!

I turned on the K1 tested to see if the problem still existed - it
did. Turned off the K1 unplugged, exposed the bottom of the RF
board. Powered up inserted a bent component lead into the Dits
Ground - OK. The same on the Dash Ground - OK! Plugged the paddles
back in it
Yes, that's right, my portable field antenna is working too well.
Just as a test I constucted a 1/2 wave end fed antenna for 20 meters. I
added an electrical 1/4 wave of 300 ohm twinlead. Per the classic end-fed
zepp, only one conductor of the twinlead is connected to the 1/2 wave
radiator.
Aside from the switch to change from a 1:1 to 4:1, what are the differences
between the BL1 and BL2?
I've never seen either, however it appears to me that the BL2 has two
binocular cores, and the BL1 has a single core. Is this so?
By the way - does anyone know the specs on the binocular
