While building the KPA500 I found that the ten mounting holes on the PA/LPF
module heatsink were not tapped deeply enough to accommodate the five 4-40
1/4" screws specified on page 22 of the assembly manual, nor the five 4-40
5/16" screws on page 24 of the manual.
I had to use the 4-40 3/16" screws

The GPS reference we used was engineered by N6GN specifically for members
of our 2 meter WSPR study group listed on
http://www.qsl.net/kp4md/144_mhz_wspr.htm

A ready made solution to produce
y to the millihertz
range.

When tuned to 144-146 MHz per Elecraft instructions, the XV144 transverter
will also operate in the 146-148 MHz and nearby MARS frequencies although
with decreased sensitivity and output power. These findings are posted on
http://www.qsl.net/kp4md/xv144.htm <http://www.qsl.net/kp4md/xv144.
My XV144 is usable to 148 MHz with somewhat reduced receiver sensitivity and
power output dropping to 15 watts at 148 MHz, not a problem as repeaters are
not weak signal communications. I've posted my results at
http://www.qsl.net/kp4md/xv144.htm http://www.qsl.net/kp4md/xv144.htm
