Interesting read Wayne. So to sum up, the only areas the FT-817 beats the KX3 is that it has a better speaker and you can change the colour of the backlit display :) That would be easy - put a better speaker in the KX3, and give it an adjustable blue/green or amber backlit display…and then the F
