I use an Arborist sling-shot.
I've had it for almost 10 years.
Have 60-70 foot oak trees on the property.
Use a tennis ball full of old metal washers.
Punched 2 holes in the ball and made a wire loop.
Have a cheap deep-sea fishing reel on a platform that sits on the
ground.
The ball flies right
. Just
close enough to splash.

Nice web pages.
I discovered
Nice web pages.
I discovered a couple of things that to me are important when it came
to launching these projectiles to get wires over the tops of trees:
- A heavier weight is better than a lighter one such as a tennis ball
when a 50 pound fishing line is attached, because a light weight
PVC-pipes in Europe are 50 / 63 / 75 / 90 mm.
63mm just fits in European tennis-ball, not too tight.
At least in my CSV19 launcher.
But ball weight must be doubled by inserting
pieces of nails or small coins.

Question: One presumes that you would use tennis balls and not potatoes.
Tennis balls are 2 1/2 to 2 5/8 inches and that is supposed to fit US sized
PVC pipe. If one builds a launcher in the UK using metric PVC
Hi Don --
If you want to build an antenna launcher like the antenna
bazooka or spud gun, check the Joplin ARC website at:
http://www.joplin-arc.org/pages/antennalauncher.html
They sell a kit for $35 or $40 to build one using heavy
PVC tubing pieces. Looks to be pretty neat and not too
costly.
