George, yes, perceptual sensitivity is highest at the peak you note and is in the yellow/green part of the light spectrum. I meant to say "sensitive" rather than acuity in my lead-in sentence. Acuity is a function of more than the color of the light, per se and depends upon background lighting and its color and the color of the information overlays (digits on a display, for example) that one wishes to design for peak acuity (the contrast colors, the type of information and many other factors).
I will make this my last post, but suffice it to say, the human optical system is complicated as is the description of the perceptual processes that go on in eye and the brain. One thing I am pretty sure about is that blue is not the best choice and, indeed, black on amber will be better for acuity (ability to distinguish and interpret detail) than black on blue (and I think this is what we are talking about relative to displays in ham radio). I will leave this subject here since I don't want to risk going further with this topic here on this reflector since its relationship to the proper topics at hand is pretty tangential.
