Good Evening,
Conditions during the net this afternoon were challenging. QSB effected all
of the eastern stations, QRN was strong, and QRM from the many contesters was
rampant. I was running with AGC off at first until the pain level got too high
to handle. Key clicks were pretty bad from some of the stations nearby so I
turned AGC back on to the fast setting. We ran for about thirty minutes and
got four check ins. Next week the time change will help us avoid the
contesters so life will be a little easier. Some of the QRN was due to the
solar stream which struck the ionosphere late yesterday. Tomorrow conditions
on twenty meters should be much better due to the influx of ions.
I got cool to cold temperature reports across the continent. Here there was
sun for a few minutes but mostly it was overcast with a high cloud layer. Snow
is starting to go away but I just saw the report for Thursday which has more on
the way. I know spring is coming because there are buds on some of my shrubs.
The snow drops are trying but they have not opened yet. The sun has cleared
the top of the mountain on sunny days though. That is very nice! More sun
also means longer days and better propagation. Hopefully this winter marked
the very lowest point of this solar cycle.

   On to the list =>

W0CZ - Ken - ND - K3 - 457
K4JPN - Steve - GA - K2 - 1422 * QNI #105 *
N0AR - Scott - MN - K2 - 4866 * QNI #170 *
W0JFR - John - CO - K3 - 994

Not a bad showing considering the conditions. Thank you! I appreciated the
company. Now next week. I may reinstate the 40 meter net then. I have
received a few reports and they were rather non-committal :) But I can always
set the rig to call CQ for me and read while it calls. Then if there is a
nibble I can hit the paddles and respond. Gives me something to do on Sunday
evening ;) Plus the report will be longer and the log will fill a little
faster. We shall see what happens.
   Until then stay well,
      73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
