Good Evening,
Conditions were so-so today. Twenty meters had QSB and QRN while forty
meters had strong QRN from a very active storm. On the twenty meter net I got
Scott's hail sign easily and then he was gone. I expect QSB was a problem as
well as storms in the upper Midwest. He mentioned in an email to me that there
have been quite a few tornadoes there thus far this season. He is trying to
work on his antenna tower. His is not quite like the average amateur because
it is 1800 feet high and the antenna weighs over a ton. But he does enjoy 6
meter contacts while running QRP :) Hopefully his weather will calm down so he
can get that propagator in place and active again.
Some of you seem to have summer-like weather. 80 degrees sounds nice. I
have been cutting wood on a just in time basis because I need a fire every day
to keep warm. My goal is to get fifteen cords of wood cut, split, and stacked
by autumn. Twenty cords would be even better! I am expecting a long cold
winter since summer is a long way off and will prove short lived. The sun will
stop moving tomorrow and then start moving southward in the following weeks. I
know there is a lag time in its warming effect but this is getting downright
silly!

   On to the lists =>

KL7QOW - Mike - AK - K3 - 3144
N0TA - John - CO - K3 - 994
W0RSR - Mike - CO - K2 - 5767
K6PJV - Dale - CA - K3 - 1183
N0AR - Scott - MN - K2 - 4866

WB8ENE - Art - OH - K3

  On 7045 kHz at 0000z:
K6PJV - Dale - CA - K3 - 1183
K6DGW - Fred - CA - K3 - 642
N0TA - John - CO - K3 - 994
K7SJ - Roger - WA - K3 - 75

I know Art sent his serial number but I was unable to pull it through the
deep QSB and heavy QRN on his signal. Hopefully we can meet once again to
listen to his K3 sending code. The sun is mildly active with a Father's Day
blast from the eastern limb. Those ions won't hit us but their presence
foretells future propagation improvements. Now is the time for me to get up on
the roof and fix the feedline to my alternate doublet. It is nice to have two
of them so when one fails I can rapidly put the other inline. Now to craft a
spare from the parts I have from past wind blasted wires.
   Until next week stay well,
      73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
