Good Evening,
Shortly after I got off the air from the second net it started to snow. I
gave Sam his ear scratch as requested. Pete, I now have a drooling cat on my
hands. He is a glutton for affection. After the drooling he bites; in a
loving but quite noticeable way! He got fed and then so did I. There were
some intervening email messages and now this epistle.
The second net had RTTY signals all around. I found, and defended, a
frequency with just enough space between the surrounding digital folks. I am
very glad the K2 has such nice filters. I closed down to 500 Hz and held the
net. Signals were good today. I had S9 contacts with Connecticut, Northern
California, and a few places in between; QSB was also in attendance. The
Midwest was weaker today. We did have two contacts from a nearby station in
Oregon (KC7OTG). On 20 meters I could hear him but had already passed the net
to Tom. On 40 m he was just a whisper. I also had the odd S during the second
net. When I asked Tom if it was him, unusual because he normally uses SS, he
said no. I asked him to call the net and who showed up but WC7S, the odd S :)
I could hear QRP Ron in PA on each net. I could have worked him on 40 but Tom
was already doing so. You were a solid S3 Ron.

As ever, if there are any errors in the above information please send me a
note and I will correct said problem. Thank you for your support over the
years. Running ECN has become ingrained into my weekly schedule. I cannot
imagine not running it. I should do this from the field again. I enjoyed that
and had a lot of good comments. However, on Field Day I hope to be working CW
on a K3 with the local group. It should be a fun CW rig. I know the reports
from Ducie Island were favorable. But, that is not first hand experience. I
want to get my grubby paws on one and see what it will do for me :)
Until next week stay safe and stay well.
      73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
