Good Evening,
The band was not conducive to many contacts this evening. Ron, AC7AC, and Russ, N9IV, were the only two I was able to hear. I was running at 14050.25 kHz but the 0 sunspot number may have hurt my propagation. That and the fact it was raining fairly heavily up here. I had to retune my antenna at least four times during the shortened net. I did work between my two antennas however, in hopes of reaching some folks in WA, BC, NV, or CA. Ron was strong, running his KX1 from Forest Grove. Not surprising since he is about ten air miles away almost line of sight from me. If the trees were all cut I could see FG from the top of my house. The antenna can surely see him. Russ popped up out of the noise and was readable for about two sentences or so then was gone. I kept calling to no avail. I closed the net and chatted with Ron until dinner. He was off work today since his loaner laptop was not happy. But it was nice to chat with him for a while.

Thus, the list:

At 2300z on 14050.25 kHz:
AC7AC - Ron - OR - KX1 - 004
N9IV - Russ - IN - K2 - 4650

Thanks you two. The weather and the propagation were both poor. Luckily our wood stove made the house cozy and warm. The deer hunters are lamenting their condition while they slog through the very soggy woods. The snow is gone but it has been replaced by a day filled with rain. It was near freezing this morning but it did get warmer. Ron is about 2000 feet lower than I so was at a balmy 50 degrees or so. Up here we worked on inside chores until net time.

I am sorry if you tried to check in and were not heard. It simply was not to be this evening. Next week the sun may activate the ionosphere and we can hear a large group of you once again. Thank you for all who listened but were not heard. Next week we try again and see how it goes. I cannot wait until the sunspot cycle turns in the other direction once again. Until then I'll keep banging away and see who I get.

73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
