Well I finally think I have it figured out. I am now using my K2 (home built, yes even toroids sn7412) for my at home rig. Love it! Even with only 15 watts I am getting into all of my SSB and CW nets. I am going to add the 100 watt PA one of these days. The Kenwood 430s is in the closet for back up. Seeing as I am gone for 2 weeks at a time for work, I take the KX3 (Home assembled sn3039). I use it for all my shortwave listening plus I can get into most of my favorite nets and 6 meters using my MFJ tuner. ( below 20 meters that is ) I love the portability . I am going to try it mobile one of these days. But being only an hour away, Im not sure when. And of course my field day CW rig for FD site, home or at work is the ever wonderful K1 (Home built sn 2086) I built a lot of Heathkit, MFJ and TenTec stuff since I was a kid, but the service and helpful hints and interactions from the crew at Elecraft has them all beat! Wish Elecraft was around back in the 60's hi hi. Anyway, Thanks guys. One feature, How about a carry handle for the K2? Annnnnnd, any ideas how I can widen the bandwidth on 160? ( just kidding)
