epoch of impatience, it was the season of contests, it
was the season of JIT, it was the spring of hope, it
was the winter of despair, we had a K3 before us, we
had no K3 before us, we were all going direct to First
Place, we were all going direct the to last - in
short, the period was so far like the present period,
that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its
being received, for sunspots or for no sunspots, in
the superlative degree of comparison only.
