I read somewhere (I believe it was the ARRL Handbook) that you can,
sometimes, find bad components by touching them with your finger while
the circuit is active.

If that's true, then I've found that the U2 (a NE602) and the T2 on the
RF board produce a raucous, sizzling sound when I touch my finger to
them.  The reason I ask is, I've read (in this list) that the K1 is such
a great receiver, but mine doesn't seem to stack up to that description.
  It's comparable to my Realistic DX-302 receiver & sometimes not as
good (they both use the same antenna) and I figure "that can't be
right."  I was wondering if this is an indication of trouble in my
Product Detector/BFO circuit (the U2 & T2 components)?
