Actually, the failure is because the lever that operates the switch at
the rear of the jack has broken.
That failure has nothing to do with lateral forces on the key jack, but
is a failure that is related more to the number of times the headphone
jack has been inserted and removed. If the

I don't know about options, but FWIW, it seems to be a problem with *some*
jacks. I still have the original headphone jack in my K2 (built in 2000) and
it has had a lot use.
However, I have always been careful to avoid putting excessive side forces
on the jack. I never use adapters stuck into
