Being lazy and hating to plug and unplug headphones, I simply made an audio
box that I feed the audio from the speaker output of the K2 to a switch that
switches between my head phones and my external speaker. I use an old
Heathkit Speaker HS-1661 rather then the built in Elecraft speaker. The
Just bought a new K2 #4913. All is great, however, inserting a
headphone doesn't cut off the speaker. The headphone plug is a standard
3.5 mm plug. The schematics show the plug should cut the speaker.
Is there an internal parameter that needs setting? If not what's the
easy way to access

In all probability, the little plastic lever which operates the switch
inside the headphone jack has broken. It usually fails with no speaker,
but it can fail either way.
It is a bit of a pain, but you can shut off the speaker by plugging an
empty jack into the external speaker jack
