I only listened. I used the crazy contest as a way to evaluate my
receivers. Hooked both rigs up to my 32' vertical and listened on 40
meters. The CW portion of the band was full of SSB. I started with the
830s and it was doing OK. Not much grunge being generated in the
receiver. I then switched to the K2. K2 was doing as well, no, wait,
it's doing better. I listened again, switched back and forth and was
able to confirm it. The K2 was cleaner and would allow me to understand
some of the weak stations better than the 830s did. If I put the two
rigs on equal footing, with both at wide bandwidth and no IF shift or
notch, the K2 just handled the huge signals better.

I was impressed.

Of course the 830s sounded better on SSB but it should. The K2 has no
SSB filter and the CW filter at 2.2 KHz width provides a very non-flat
pass band for some odd coloration.
