David,
I checked my Power supply and it is marked 9vdc at 800ma. Hard to
know without opening one up whether a voltage regulator is used in
the speaker itself. If your substitute PS is 12v output probably no
harm will result. I find most of these wall cube PS rely on loading
to bring them

they were supplied with a USA voltage AC mains adaptor for the DC supply. The

Not sure that is permitted under EU legislation...

Probably not, but he doesn't seem to care or know what he is selling, 'nuff
said. Life is too short to worry about things like this, I shouldn't get worked
up about it, but I do.

Thanks for the review Ed. On that basis I have ordered a pair for my KX3 for
use in the shack, as I wanted stereo and RF immunity particularly.

PS Ed I am working towards getting back on 144MHz EME again, with a smaller

Brian,
In the EU we get a warranty on anything we buy, so if they do break within a
year or even 2 I will get them replaced or my money back, but I hope that I
don't have to go down that route.

Yes Brian, it may have been something very simple that had failed and I am sure
you could have fixed it for them if they had thought to ask you, what a shame.

I finally ordered and have received my West Mountain COMspkr for use

I personally prefer UNamplified Motorola Mobile speakers, available regularly
on EBay for $10 or less.
I second this. I just got a second Moto speaker to use on the Right
channel that complements the one I've been using for years. They're

Since I also restore old vintage stereo receivers, etc., I feed the audio
from the K3 to a stereo amp/receiver and out to an old set of Yamaha
speakers. I have hi/lo cut filters, control of bass and treble and all
needed volume. Fills the room. However, since I spend most of my time

For over 6 years I have used book case speakers mounted on the wall, pointed

quality that is non tiring for many hours of phone use. I also have the
West Mountain Radio COMSpkr's that are cheap and very nice but no
Phil,
I agree with you - whatever speakers are used they should have
reasonable fidelity.
Yes, communications quality is all that is needed IMHO for the audio,
but also IMHO, the speakers are *not* the place to achieve that - good
full range speakers should faithfully reproduce whatever comes
Hi All.
I use a pair or Optimus/Minimus/Realistic/RCA 7 or 77 bookshelf
speakers. There were several names over the years for the same speakers.

Has anyone else noticed quiet audio still coming through the external
speakers when the headphones are plugged in? The level is well down from
normal but not totally muted.
