How is PA overtemp/current displayed on the K3?

During the WAE rtty contest at least twice I noticed that the rig was in TX, 
but there was
no power output.  I did not see any warning message on the rig's display. 
Next time called
upon transmit was fine.  However, later on I did get an unsolicited shut 
down on the same
rig.  PA temperatures did make it into the low 50's sending QTCs.

When a fault occurs, to the point of shutting off output power, is the fault 
display fleeting
enough that I could have missed it?  (I was running SO2R and not watching 
the affected
radio).
