Frank, I use the KPA100 with my KX3 and my K2 and it works fine. I replaced the MCU of the KPA100 with a PIC16F876A with my own firmware. The KPA100 is controlled now via its serial port (homemade communication protocol) by PC or an homemade interface (display and controller with serial port).

Karsten, Are you measuring the current out of the power supply? Or is that the current displayed on the K2? If it is the current from your power supply, then I suggest that you re-check the bias adjustment for the KPA100. See the KPA100 manual for the procedure. Yes, the additional 4 amp

KPA100 is aligned according to the manual. When I key the K2/KPA100 up to 10 watts, current is up to 2 A. Looks normal. Then I set the K2 to 11 watts (KPA100 engaded) Now current is approx. 6 Amps. What are those 4 extra amps needed for? When I set K2 to 20 watts, it consumes approx. 8 amps. 3

On the KPA-100, two different length 3/16" hex spacers are screwed down onto the long Allen set screws that hold the circuit board in place...When these spacers are tightened down, they make the Allen set screws very rigid...Four out of the seven spacers are visible after the board is installed.

George, Since you suspect no power to U1, I suggest you look at the schematic to identify the pins of U1 that are connected to the 5 volt supply line and check for the presence of voltage with a DVM. If you find no 5 volts where it should be, then check the regulator U3. You should have 12 volts
