The latest KPA-100 schematic (dated 9/25/06) shows R4 across the X1 crystal is
100K. A previous mod shows R4 was changed to 39K. My amp has been changed to
the 39K value. Which value is correct? Thanks. Roy Morris W4WFB

Don,
Sorry, I seem to have had a 'senior moment'. On resetting its now OK!
Sorry for the bandwidth.
Dunno how it got to 220 but one of those things in life.
I will keep taking the pills!

Bob,
If CAL TPA is actually 220, that is much too high - The K2 microprocessor
thinks the heat sink is at 220 degrees C!!
Set it back to match the room temperature in degrees C when the heat sink is
at the ambient temperature. (i.e. 22 rather than 220).

Hi
Yesterday I turned on and the fan came on even though the heatsink was
cold and when I tried to TX 'PA hot' came on and the PA was inhibited.
1. CAL tpa is 220 which is about right ~ 22C and Fan menu set nor.
2. On TX - Q3 base is 0.6v - which I think is about right (RC4 going
high of c
Looking for one already built for sale.

My KPA-100 is finished and after a few trials and tribulations it
appears to be working extremely well now. My initial transmissions
were reported to be fuzzy and buzzy so after a few stressful nights I
tried to figure out what was going on. I also had no PO control on
A few recent units have shown problems that at least
sound similar to this one. See, for example:

These two, at least, were due to the KSB2 ALC circ
Dave,
Is this a new KPA100? or have you had it for a couple years? Some (but very
few) KPA100s had a similar situation a while back.
If it is recent, I have no immediate answers, but if it is older, put the
change on it for the increased TR switch voltage (change R4 to 39k) and add
a 1k resistor
Hi Guys,
I am having problems with the KPA-100. 80m reports of distorted audio, like a
vibrating effect associated with it. And even when I have the PO adjusted to a
max of 15 watts it seems to transmit up to 60w out. I know it's not RF
feedback caused by antenna because I have the same prob
I have failed the power supply test on the KPA-100. I measure -0.33v across
the aux power supply to the K2.
Ah... I have confirmed that the reverse polarity protection in the KPA-100
works a treat.
Just in case any of you were too scared to try :-P
KPA-100 Power up test a success.

Am I using right core, wire?
