I suspect you are right. I looked at the (perhaps intentionally) out of focus
FCC photos and I see a wire ended resistor bridging surface mount pads in the
lower left of the "Bottom

The amp appears to be working properly.
The leads of the resistor look like they are bent at the end as if it was
soldered to surface of the board and not through hole.
Will be interesting what comes out of this.

Went to move the amp today and heard something loose in the PA deck on the
KPA1500. I removed the bottom cover to find a 3 K Ohm, 3 watt resistor
laying loose to the side of the PA board. There is indication that the
resistor has been heated. Checking the resistor with my Fluke 77 shows
