A muffin fan (or other large fan) placed on top of the KPA1500 will, of course, cool the heat sink. However, it will also delay or even prevent onset of the amplifier's own fans.
This is a problem because the amp's fans cool both the heat sink *and* the interior of the amplifier. Due to the power levels involved, many components on the PC boards require cooling, including low-pass filter inductors, relays, and high-wattage resistors in the T/R switch and attenuator. Please do not use external fans to cool the amplifier's heat sink. 73, Wayne N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
