Maybe this has been brought up before, but I am recent to the roles. A P-3 is
still on my wish list.

In the meantime, you can have some fun learning how the K-3 DSP filter works
using a psk-31 software.
It gives you a visual look at what is happening. I tried both HRD/DM780, or
DigiPan. I think any should work.

With the software running and the waterfall display on, use the 'WIDTH' knob
and see the waterfall narrow. This is the DSP filter. Narrow it to about 800
hz or so.

Next, use the 'SHIFT' to move it around. Notice how it centers on a display
frequency that matches what the K3 is displaying as you turn the knob. This is
assuming you have the frequencies displayed on the spectrum display.

Next, use the 'LO' or 'HI' knob to move either the Lo or Hi edge of the filter.
See what is happening.

For a test of your new skill, try 3.580 Mhz some evening when W1AW is sending
code practice. It will be right in the middle of the spectrum display. Narrow
your filter as required, and/or move the edges of it over near a signal you
want to copy. See how nice it works to eliminate hearing W1AW.

I can see how nice having a P-3 would be.

I'd rather be learning.
