Hi Joe: Audio gain at 9 to 11 o'clock is a very 'typical' setting. However, with the RF gain turned down, your AGC may not be responding enough to reduce the audio level when strong signals are present. Normally, the RF gain is set at maximum when AGC is used. The option is to set the AF gain to
