Fred, This is not a problem with the powdered iron cores, but it is a problem with ferrite cores - it is an abrasive material and when will have sharp edges, just the nature of the beast - sort of like the fact that sissors are sharp and often pointed. It is a characteristic of the material and not a quality consideration.
