Joe,
Your best learning tool will be the KX-Line book by Fred Cady.
You can order it from Elecraft - look under PRODUCTS -- BOOKS.
If you go through all the instructions and exercises in that book, you
can be answering questions instead of asking them.

Hi and Welcome:
Your next purchase should now be the Cady books for your hardware... I
believe Elecraft sells them now.

Hi Joe:
Welcome from a fellow Canadian. I’m VE7ZD. You’ll find excellent support and
a helpful community on this mailing list. I too have a KX3/PX3 and KXPA100 so
I’m working on a similar platform. I was inactive for almost 20 years but
became active again just a year ago.
What are you
I have just a few criteria, and I’m at the age that it isn’t terribly likely
I’d replace my K3 (or K3S) anyway unless the “new” thing were absolutely
positively spectacular. Whatever the K4 is, as prime criteria, I don’t want to
have to depend on someone else's OS, someone else’s glitchy

I've owned and used an LP-Pan for a while. I liked it, the software

Its also important to note that the P3 explicitly provides an IF
output to down-converter boxes like LP-PAN and the softrock board. This

P3 and LP-PAN / PowerSDR-IF each have strengths and weaknesses. You'll need
to do some research to see which suits your situation better. I will just
briefly mention three clear differences...
The most obvious difference is that P3 doesn't require a PC, and is
basically plug-and-play. LP-PAN
Another significant difference is that LP-PAN can be used with other
third party software like CW Skimmer, or any future application (band
activity analysis, propagation studies, etc) that may require an
SDR-type front end. There currently is no such capability with the P3,
and none has been
For completeness' sake, I should mention that there are significant
planned hardware and firmware extensions to the P3. I can't go into
the details right now, but suffice to say that it will continue to
evolve.
The P3 can be considered part of the K3 system -- no computer required.
73,
Hi Bob,
The LP-Pan uses a PC for its display. Many operators prefer a stand-
alone Panadapter like our new P3, which sits beside the K3 and doesn't
require a PC for operation.
The P3 is very tightly integrated with the K3 -- basically plug-and-
play. It displays the K3's VFO A and B
Welcome to the list.
What sort of operating are you going to do with the radio?
I am surely no expert, but I have a K2, a K3 on order, had
an icom 756 pro, and other rigs.
The K2 is a kit, is small, and lacks some features the top end
rigs have, but its very inexpensive, very portable, very
