I am about to install the KXV60 in my K2 (10W) and need to make the
connector decision. My preference would be the BNC connectors, but would
like to know if there are any considerations beyond personal preference.
Thank you,

Gary,
If I recall correctly, the BNC connectors are on the top lid, the RCAs on
the lower panel. If you use the BNCs, you will have to disconnect them
(unsolder) to completely remove the top cover for service. I think that is
the only real difference.
GL,
Bruce N1RX
I fitted a 4-way connector to the KXV60 to I could unplug the BNC
connectors when I removed the top cover of the K2. I felt that BNC were
more appropriate for RF connections to the XV144, particularly as the
XV144 has BNC also.

I used RCA connectors.
Over the years I've used RCA connectors without issue up through 30 MHz,

Sure, there might be a little 'impedance bump' - particularly up on the
higher frequencies - but it's inconsequential in this

Go for the RCAs so you can still remove the top easily. At 28MHz (practically
DC - it is 10m wavelength for goodness-sake) you don't need to worry about
the mismatch for this application.
That is what I did - it looks neat and stops you from confusing them with
the KAT2 BNCs.

Hi
I know Elecrafters love figures, dates and shipping performances..
My P3 kit, ordered October 12, has left Aptos October 13 and has been

Congrats to Elecraft for this shipping performance !

Do you change bands or modes using quick memories or M1-M4?
Maybe you accidentally saved 75 baud in memory, and that's why
it keeps coming back.

That sounds like arcing somewhere Mike (BTW, it's QRN - N - noise instead of
QRM -M for interference from other stations).
It could be a power line insulator. Sometimes a fluorescent bulb dying

I had a nasty noise of s9 plus for a week or so. Finally tracked it down to

noticed it had always been warmer than most of them although it seemed to
work okay. Apparently, it must've gone bad and started generating a

According to certain consumer device manufacturers it seems that CE is
just a little sticker you buy on a big roll that you stick on when

Quite a coincidence.
In 1978 I had horrible RFI that blanketed HF and 2 meters and also
affected TVs and even people's stereo systems. Naturally, my neighbor

New K3s all have 45 baud as the default for all memories. K3s that
were built before the associated firmware change may come up at 75
baud, requiring a one-time, per-memory or per-band change back to 45
(using the TEXT DEC switch). If copy is poor, the baud rate is
probably wrong.
Sorry
