As a retired audio professional, my guess is that any effect will be
limited to bass response.
Thanks. A couple of reviews I saw of third-party pads
Question: How compatible is the K2/100 with KAT/KPA500? Is it possible
to connect K2/100 to both of these other units with the K3KPAAux cable
as if it's a K3(s)?

The pads on my nearly ancient MDR-7506's have now officially given up
the ghost -- both are long-tattered, and one has come off entirely and
refuses to be reinstalled.
I've read various messages here on pad replacements for these and other
headphones, comments on various pad types including

If you look up the data sheet, and under “Absolute Maximum Values” will reveal
a clue. The MAX 1406 shows a maximum value of 7 volts. Wouldn’t hold my
breath on it working if 12V applied. There are other components involved also…

Don,
Why not replace the regulator and cross your fingers? If it works, all
is well. There is no firmware on the KIO2, but the MAX1406 U1 may have
been damaged.

Change them both. Even if the unit “worked” ok if you didn’t replace U1, you
would be just waiting for a failure.

HiMy KIO2 interface has stopped working. Voltage checks indicated that the 5
volt regulator had 12 volts in and 12 volts out. This is the VCC feed for the
U1 processor. So I can replace the regulator but would the processor have been
damaged? Should I just change both for general practice?
Fixed, power cycled my microKEYER III, which keys the KPA1500, and all is good.

Yes, the TX LED was on, that was it! Now I gotta figure out why. Thanks, Mark.

Check if the key line is stuck on. Is the TX LED on when in receive?

My KPA1500 seems to disconnect the antenna when switching the amplifier from
standby to operate. It transmits OK but the receive signal path seems to be
open.
