With a basic K4 how many antenna connections are there? (SO-239s) Do you get 2
RX antenna BNCs regardless of the K4 model? I'm wondering what antenna options
you have between the main and sub if you don't buy the ATU?

If you have the K2/100, remove the KI6WX mod - without the KPA100, it
makes no difference.
Make certain the SSB FL1 filter is set to OP1.
Check the position of the OP1 filter passband with Spectrogram . The
low frequency 'knee' of the passband should be close to 300 Hz.
If you are wondering

Look at? your KSB2 board.? If CB and CN positions are populated, you
have the narrow 2.1 khz filter width.
On my Rev-A K2, I've changed
The Y-BOX version 2 and above also includes this feature to open the Pin 10

Attention users of the KPAK3AUX cable set, either with a K3 or a K4 with
either a KPA500 or KPA1500.
I am looking for a replacement for my lost keyline interrupter

Edward and Terry,
The SSBCAPKT was released November 2004. KSB2 kits built before that
had a 2.1 khz filter.
Look at your KSB2 board. If CB and CN positions are populated, you

Dave,
Yes. In other words, just as we would wind in sequence around a toroid.
It limits the number of useful turns that can be wound to one side of
the clamp. Once I realized that, I no longer recommend the clamp-on for
TX chokes, only for RFI suppression.

A very good K3 with 2nd receiver setup with roofing filters for CW operation.
Std 2.7K in both rcvrs, 500 and 200 5 pole filters in main and 500 5 pole in
sub. No upgraded synthesizer boards as I felt they were a bit over priced.
KPA100, ATU, KXV3 Interface option for rx antennas and
Jim,
When you said “turns must go through the core in sequence”, does that mean
that each turn must rest next to the last one, rather than overlapping one
or more previous turns? I suspect that’s what “in sequence “ means- just
want to make sure.

I am sure Don may be able to answer when the KSB2 came out with a wider
crystal filter response, but the early on versions of the KSB2 came
standard with a 2.1kHz filter. Today it is 2.4kHz. If you look at your
KSB2 module and take a look at the lettered capacitors around the
crystals and you
I too would be interested in hearing the answer for this. I am NOT a big SSB
person, but would always prefer fidelity on the 1% of such QSOs. Sent from my

I assembled my k2/100 quite some time ago. I finally used it on ssb. I was
told my audio was too tight. I think the early ones were setup for contest
audio. Mine was about serial number 3400 or so.
My question is this: what can I do to change it to more of a ragchew style
of audio?

Rich,
If I remember correctly, there is also an updated version of the KAT500
utility, that is needed to install the new firmware version. Did you make
sure you installed that update prior to attempting the firmware update?

Hi
As I use WinXP I had to use an older version to load 2.05 (new version of
utility gave me the checksum error).
The version that loaded 2.05 correctly is 1.18.8.6
It loaded ok and works.
