Hi Stan,
This sounds like the amp is folding back it's power. I encountered
something similar on my KX3/KXPA100 when I had an issue with my antenna and
was experiencing excessive SWR. Check the SWR indicators (both devices).

I have a KX3 and a KXPA100 and with the recent thread about running a
calibration I figured I needed to do likewise. The amp is a new addition to
my setup so I am still learning the details.
