here is one i found and modified.
it selects Data a mode and sets filters regardless of present mode.
the one i found assumed it was always in data a mode but i use FSK for rtty
this made it work for me all the time.
MD6;DT0;DE050;BW;VX1;PC015;

I have a KXUSB and was wondering if i can use it with an ICOM 706. I am going
to do a trip with the 706 for the June VHF contest and think it is basically
the same except that it has a stereo plug and the 706 is mono. is the ring in
the KXUSB used? I do not wish to damage either thing.
Thanks
Doug,
My wife (NE1F) and I use 2 headsets with our K3 but not directly.
We use a Behringer Mic mixer and Headphone mixer.
This approach works very well for us.
Mary has the inputs set different on the Mixer. We also use the extra inputs
for the canned outputs
for voice keying to get into the
I used the FAR Circuits K9AY circuit and made my own K9AY loop system. I have a
City Lot and while it was not earth shattering in performance there were a few
stations that I could hear with it that I could not on my inv Ell. With that
setup I was able to get DXCC on 160 with 100 watts.
I would
When i got back into ham radio in 1993 i bought an IC725 basic radio and made a
homebrew Serial to TTL converter so i could use the PC for controlling the
radio. I have never looked back and have been using PC control ever since. I
built the interface in a 25 pin D connector shell because thats
I use N1MM and it works FB.
I do off air recordings with Audacity and it works FB also.
BTW. I concur on the K1N on 10 meters, Thats one of the hardest QSOs i ever
got. Even with the P3 and 2nd RX it was hard to find.
now to get them on 17 for a sweep.

What a concept, actually putting the radio in CW mode, hooking up a key or
paddles and transmitting/receiving.
Brilliant!
I like it.

I use a 2 port PCI serial board in my desktop with a single (prolific) USB to
Serial to handle 2 radios and the FSK for RTTY.
When i go portable with my laptop i use a Moxa Uport 1410 4 port USB to serial.
It has worked fine for me at JOTA and Field day events. I keep it all in a
travel case
I had a similar problem and it was found to be some RFI getting into the power
cable. I wound several turns of the power cable around a 2.5 inch ferite toroid
and problem solved.

We use a Behringer 802 Mic Mixer at our station. No to help tune the audio (the
radio does that fine) but my wife and i are on together often and we do not
have to manually switch mics. It took a few mods to do it all, One is the 802
has the 48 volt phantom voltage and we use PC headsets
I do not understand the need or desire to use the front port.
I use CM-500 but plug into the rear ports. One of the features of the really
like about the K3 is the clean look with nothing plugged into the front.
I converted an old hand mike into a K3 pinout so i could use it if i ever
wanted
I use a 20 inch wide screen wall mounted. I have 4 monitors on my wall. 2 for
my computer, one for the P3 and one for my XYLs computer. They are all tied in
so either of us can use the radio with computer control. Station pic at my

Bill, I use RTTY often in contests and find it incredibly easy to use. I built
a very simple interface and use FSK rather than AFSK. that does not require any
adjustments etc. I do some of the AFSK modes as well but one mans settings will
not be the same as another depending on software volume
